Company History

Patrons & Farmers was chartered in 1877, the same year that Ulysses S. Grant turned over the Presidency to fellow Civil War General, Rutherford B. Hayes.  The company was formed by area farmers in Harrisonville, Missouri to protect its policy-holder members from wind and fire devastation, and it is actually the second oldest business in Cass County.

While our company still actively provides protection for farmers and ranchers, we have grown over the years to protect other types of property owners including homeowners, renters, mobile homeowners and landlords throughout the State of Missouri. For more information on our insurance options click here.

About our Agents

Our company has carefully selected a network of Independent Agents with strong ties to their local communities and a commitment to integrity.  As our representative and your advocate, your local agent takes the time to get to know you and your unique insurance protection requirements. Meet our Agents.

Because Patrons & Farmers is a policy-holder owned Mutual Insurance Company, our agents also fill an important role by recommending potential policyholders to the company.  Through each agent we continue and honor our 140+ year old tradition of neighbors helping neighbors.

Company Management

We are managed by a board composed of nine directors who are charged with overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the company for the benefit of the policyholders.  These directors also determine how we can expand our coverage to meet the needs of our current and potential policyholders. Meet our Directors.

An annual policyholder meeting is held at the company office in Harrisonville, Missouri at 2:00pm the first Wednesday of each April to elect directors and conduct additional business at policyholder direction. Company policyholders and agents are encouraged to attend each year's function.
